This Week's Social Activity (week of 10/3-10/7):

Pot Luck Barbecue, Goleta Beach Park, 5.00pm-sunset Wednesday 10/5/2016

Back by popular demand!

Meet at Goleta beach park at 5.00pm. Again, this is a little early but as the weather has cooled, it might get a little too cold after sunset.

Charcoal, cooking equipment, plates, and some plastic utensils will be provided as before. Please bring your own stuff to grill, snacks, and drinks.

Previous Weeks:

Pot Luck Barbecue, Goleta Beach Park, 5.00pm-sunset Wednesday 9/28/2016

Back by popular demand!

Meet at Goleta beach park at 5.00pm. Note this is a half hour earlier than last week, to allow those who wish to attend sufficient time to return to KITP for Immanuel Bloch's public lecture.

Charcoal, cooking equipment, plates, and some plastic utensils will be provided as before. Please bring your own stuff to grill, snacks, and drinks.

"Review comments" from last week that you may wish to consider while revising your shopping plans:
-- Sausages are delicious, but we perhaps had an oversupply of them
-- Large hunks of meat are also delicious, but take commensurately longer to cook
-- We can drink in the picnic areas without any problems

Pot Luck Barbecue, Goleta Beach Park, 5.30-7pm Wednesday 9/21/2016

Meet at Goleta beach park at 5.30pm. Significant others, families, friends, etc welcome. Note that drinking alcohol on beaches is a gray area; we have not been bothered in the past, but given that the school year is starting, there is likely to be increased enforcement and we might encounter police looking to ticket people, so partake of libations at your own risk.

Frank Verstrate has volunteered to "hold the grill" at around 5pm.

I will provide the charcoal, cooking equipment, plates, and some plastic utensils. Please bring your own stuff to grill, snacks, and drinks.

Dinner at The Boathouse on Hendry's beach on Thursday, 9/15/2016.

Plan is to meet at 6pm and drive to the beach, and start dinner at 6.30pm. Please add your names to the list and add the number of people other than yourself that you would be willing to drive, or tell us if you will meet us directly at the restaurant (they have happy hour from 3-6pm if the week has left you thirsty for more than knowledge.)

Note: The Boathouse is primarily a seafood restaurant, but their menu lists a few meat offerings, a vegetarian entree, and a nice salad selection.

We will need to finalize our reservation, so please confirm by Wednesday night at 6pm. (If we have over 14, we will split into two tables.)

  1. Sid P (can drive +4)
  2. Aaron F (can drive +4)
  3. Frank V.
  4. Jason A (can drive +3)
  5. Hanspeter B
  6. Xiaopeng Li
